President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Hon. Freda Prempeh, the Minister of State at the Presidency and Member of Parliament for Tano North, as the new Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, she is replacing Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah. Mrs. Cecilia Abena Dapaah's resignation, dated Saturday, 22nd July 2023, was accepted and acknowledged by the President on Saturday, July 22, 2023.
In her resignation letter that was addressed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah cited concerns that the issues surrounding the theft could have a negative impact on the government. However, she pointed out that the media reports on the theft have exaggerated the situation and mentioned that she would investigate the inconsistencies and respond in detail soon.
“There are noticeable inconsistencies between what is being discussed in the public domain and the thrust of the original complaint on the matter.”
“I am taking steps to examine the origins of the inconsistencies and will provide a detailed response in the coming days,” Mrs Dapaah said in a press statement dated July 21, 2023 in reaction to media reports on the theft.
In relation,President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in consultation with the Ministers for Foreign Affairs Regional Integration together with Roads and Highways, has also announced the appointment of Mavis Nkansah Boadu and Thomas Mbomba as new deputy ministers for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and Roads and Highways, respectively. They will effectively swap positions, with Hon. Mavis Nkansah Boadu becoming the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and Hon. Thomas Mbomba taking on the role of Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways.
