Nana Baffour, the chief of the community of Subin, which is located in the Ashanti Region, recently issued a call to action to the residents of the Ashanti Region, urging them not to support political parties simply because they were born in those communities.
Before determining who to vote for, Ashantis need to learn, according to him, to consider the contributions that each of the major political parties has made on their behalf over the years.
He went on to say that, despite the fact that he considers himself to be an NPP supporter at heart, it is imperative that Ashantis open their eyes in order to see the political party that has been of the most assistance to them when in power.
The chief then proceeded to run down a list of projects that governments led by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had both finished and begun.
Who among those on the left and right has contributed more to the betterment of the Ashanti land? This was the home of former President Kufuor; the former president's grandpa was born in this very house.
"In my heart, I am a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), but I won't specify whether I support the NPP or the NDC. Who among all of the political parties has done the most for us, taking into consideration the events that have transpired in the Ashanti country and the assistance that each of them has provided to us? Which political party has been the most helpful to our cause?
"You must decide for yourself which nation was responsible for building the road that is just in front of us. Which government was responsible for the construction of the market in Kedjetia? Who was the architect behind Rockzy Park? In Twi, he questioned which administration was responsible for building the Kumasi Airport.
He continued by saying, "What I'm advising the people of the Ashanti Region is that if you are going to vote, think about the person who would development the Ashanti Region. You shouldn't vote for a party only because your parents were members of that party.
When the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Subin and the executives of the party paid a visit to Nana Baffour at his residence, he made these statements.
