Because of the stereotypes they held about the profession, my parents were originally less than enthusiastic about supporting my decision to pursue a career in dance. — Afronitaaa
Afronitaaa, a member of the DWP Academy and an international choreographer, disclosed that it was initially difficult for her to earn her parents' support for the career path that she had selected. In a world where following one's passion might be viewed with scepticism, Afronitaaa's revelation is particularly noteworthy.
Afronitaa was able to successfully change her parents' perspectives and earn their unwavering support for her goals and aspirations by demonstrating a strong level of determination, dedication, and the power of communication.

Despite the fact that her passion for dance was evident from a young age, her parents held certain prejudices about the art form.
She explained, "Okay, initially they were not so supportive because parents have some kind of perception that dancers are street kids and all that especially back in the day," saying that parents have this perception even now.
According to Afronitaaa, her parents were initially hesitant to support her desire to pursue a career in dance because they were concerned about the potential influence it could have on her
Abigail, the winner of Season 14 of TV3 Talented Kidz, at last gets to meet her mentor, Afronitaa.
"With my parents, their concern was that if I go into this dance thing, what will become of my academics," she pointed out. "If I go into this dance thing, what will become of my academics?"
once realising the challenges that lay ahead, she reportedly embarked on a mission to prove her parents wrong by taking her academics seriously while also incorporating dancing. Therefore, when I knew that was what I needed to do in order to convince them, I did it. She shared, "I was like, I'll do whatever it takes to make sure my grades are the best they can be."
Afronitaaa's dance career developed at the same time that her academic achievements shone brightly, providing a balance that finally resulted in her parents recognising and appreciating her accomplishments.
Their hearts softened as they watched their daughter develop and dedicate herself to something she was passionate about, and they went from being sceptics to being fervent supporters as a result.
"When they realised that the dance was going smoothly and that the books were also safe, they said, 'Okay, calm down,' and as a result, they decided to support me. Afronitaaa proclaimed with pride that her parents are the kind of individuals that are always there for them.
Today, Afronitaaa is held up as an example for young people and aspiring dancers alike who are following their dreams and pursuing their talents.
Afronitaa's dedication to her studies was on display when she graduated with top grades from Wesley Girls High School in 2021, where she had completed her high school education. As a result, she was accepted to the University of Ghana, where she is currently continuing her education.
