The former minister for Sanitation and Water Resources has been trending since last Friday. On Friday, news broke out that she had put her former house help on trial on accusations of theft. The house help alongside other accomplices are facing trial for stealing a huge amount of money as well as other expensive accessories. On Saturday Cecilia Dapaah resigned from her post as minister and on Monday she was arrested by the Office of the Special Prosecutor for investigation.
Well, many Ghanaians have questioned the source of the monies the former minister claims were stolen from her. Some have called for her to be investigated and if found guilty prosecuted. Leading the criticisms is the opposition National Democratic Congress. Many members of the Minority side have called for an impartial investigation of the matter.
John Mahama, the former president has also waded into the conversation and wondered why a country whose people are suffering can boast of a minister with such money in her house. He went on to blast the Akufo- Addo government and called it corrupt. A Director of Communications of the NPP, Owusu Bempah has reacted to the attack on Cecilia Dapaah and the NPP by Mahama.
According to Owusu Bempah, Mahama should swear by antoa if he never kept huge monies at his home. He challeneged the former president to come out clear and make that vow. The interview with Owusu Bempah was carried by Media General' s TV3 and this news article has infuriated United States based Ghanaian journalist Kevin Taylor. According to Kevin Taylor TV3 has nothing better to write about and so choose to tarnish the image of Mahama by reporting on the allegations Owusu Bempah made against Mahama.
Kevin Taylor questioned if TV3 took money from Owusu Bempah to do this damage to Mahama' s reputation. According to him, this kind of journalism is negative and will destroy the media house. It can be recalled that lawyer Maurice Ampaw also accused Mahama of stealing state money and giving it to his brother to keep for him.Like
