The former minister for Sanitation and Water Resources has been trending for the past few days after news broke that her house help is standing trial for theft. Hours later, Cecilia Dapaah, former MP for Bantama released a communique which led to many Ghanaians hurling more insults at her. The minister finally resigned on Saturday citing that she doesn' t want her personal issues to affect the reputation of the government. Many however want her investigated and if possible prosecuted if the allegations against her are true.

Leading the attack on her is the opposition National Democratic Congress. Members of the Minority in Parliament have made calls for the Special Prosecutor to take up the case and investigate. They want the source of the $1 million alongside side the other items stolen to be investigated. According to Ato Forson, it is unthinkable for a minister to keep such a large amount of money in her home.

John Mahama, the flagbearer of the NDC has also questioned the source of the monies stolen from Cecilia Dapaah' s house. Well, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has come to the Defence of the former minister and called the NDC to focus on investigating James Gyakye Quayson. According to Maurice Ampaw, it was appalling that the NDC want Gyakye Quayson freed and yet want another minister investigated and tried.

Maurice Ampaw alleged that former president, John Mahama has no moral right to speak on the matter because he himself is a culprit. He alleged that Mahama during his tenure as president also stole huge amounts of dollars and gave it to his brother to keep for him. He called on Mahama to speak to the issue of the monies he gave to his brother and stop wasting his time on Cecilia Dapaah. The pro- NPP lawyer mentioned that it is not wrong for a minister to keep such monies in their house and defended the source of income of Cecilia Dapaah and her husband as genuine.
