Reverend Ntim-Fordjour, the Deputy Minister of Education, has stated that the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service will not interfere with investigations into the alleged incidence of bullying that occurred at Adisadel College.
As a result, he strongly suggested that the school's administration work together with the investigating committee.
According to Reverend Ntim-Fordjour, an investigating team that was established to deal with the situation was also due to present its report to the ministry by the time yesterday's business day came to a close.
The Deputy Minister of Education stated that further action would be taken to remedy the matter based on the final report that would be filed to ensure that such difficulties would not recur at the school.
After meeting with students and staff of the school the day before, Rev. Ntim-Fordjour issued a plea to the media here in Cape Coast to put an end to all forms of bullying in schools and stated that any student discovered to be indulging in such acts would be made to face the consequences. This came after he had met with students and employees of the school the day before.
He urged all students around the country to adhere to the required code of conduct and discipline in the various schools, and he added that the ministry had instructed the school to tighten the monitoring and supervision on how they mentor the students. He said that the ministry had also given the school direction to tighten the monitoring and supervision on how they mentor the students.
According to him, the culture of reporting was an issue that had been ignored, and the culture in which individuals stood by and did nothing when things went wrong is something that needs to be eradicated.
He noted that the ministry would not withdraw the psycho-social or counselling support system that had been put into place to enable the students to fully overcome the traumatic experience that occurred during the incident. This support system had been put in place to help the students overcome the terrible experience that occurred during the incident.
According to his account, the injured student had been subjected to a comprehensive medical check, and the results demonstrated that he was healthy and that there was no need for concern.
He indicated that the Ministry would not obstruct justice as it had urged management of the school to cooperate with ongoing investigations by the police and the office of the Attorney General. He also stated that the Ministry had asked management of the school to cooperate with ongoing investigations.
"The school authorities have so far cooperated with the investigative bodies regarding the incident of assault that took place in one of the school's dormitories," he stated. "The incident took place in one of the school's dormitories."
Reverend Ntim-Fordjour was quoted as saying that the assistance of the school officials was extremely significant in facilitating the work of law enforcement agencies towards ensuring that the necessary action had been done. He noted that this was very important in order to ensure that the needed action had been taken.
"There is a place of law and a place for our internal administrative disciplinary codes," he stated, implying that the law enforcement agencies were carrying out their duties and that the Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service could not obstruct justice. He went on to remark that "there is a place of law and a place for each."
In the meantime, he stated that the SHS student who was seen on video hitting a colleague at Adisadel College (ADISCO) has been arrested by the police and warned about inflicting injury and assaulting others. ADISCO is located in the same building as Adisadel High School. His expulsion from the school is currently in effect as well.
However, the suspension that had been issued to the student who had been hurt had been revoked, and the victim, along with other pupils, was currently participating in psychosocial therapy led by a team of counsellors and psychologists from the regional and national level.
