It is not going unnoticed that the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has not been seen or heard from in the aftermath of scandals that have plagued the government.
The ambitious Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi may be attempting to prevent any information on the multiple problems that are harming the government and officials of the government, according to certain people both inside and outside of the government who have been closely following the activities of the Information Minister since at least the year 2021.
Some people believe that the Minister is attempting to "appear clean" by avoiding direct communication about the multiple problems that have befallen the government.
Following the theft of millions of Cedis, Dollars, and Euros from the residence of the now-former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Dapaah, the government has been the target of intense criticisms and criticism over the past couple of days.
Also, the candidate for Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Boakye Agyarko, recounted certain alleged incidences that took place during the re-negotiation of the 250 Megawatts Ameri Power Plant when he was the Minister for Energy. Agyarko is running for the position of New Patriotic Party Flagbearer.
In an interview broadcast on Asanteman FM in Kumasi, Boakye Agyarko made the allegation that Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), had renegotiated the Ameri deal without the consent of the committee that had been established by the government to work on the deal.
Dr. Randy Abbey, a well-known broadcaster and the anchor of the "Good Morning Ghana" programme on Metro TV, recently inquired as to the reason behind the government's silence in response to claims made by Boakye Agyarko, Ghana's former Minister of Energy, over the Ameri agreement.
Dr. Abbey questioned why the government has not issued a response to the severe claims made by a former cabinet minister who is also a presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP). These allegations include the current President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Dr. Abbey made these comments while speaking on his broadcast on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.
"Mr. Boakye Agyarko brings back the Ameri concerns by presenting some significant revelations or claims against the president, against Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, and against the other personalities in question. There has been no response from the government that I have either seen or read. We are approximately halfway through the second week, and we have not yet received an answer.This person served as a cabinet minister, and he was really the campaign manager for the candidate who was running at the time (Akufo-Addo). Additionally, he is a senior member of the NPP, and he has in fact been vetted and given approval to run as a presidential candidate.
"While he is talking about these things, he is pointing to the president. He is also pointing to other people, and he is mentioning names. We are aware of the controversy surrounding this entire Ameri deal, including the question of executive permission, as well as allegations of corruption and other inappropriate business practises. He stated, "Now this person makes all of these allegations, and it is as if nobody wants to speak to it." He went on to say that the government's silence on the claim made by the former energy minister is comparable to the manner in which President Akufo-Addo handled the unlawful mining report made by the previous Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation. The report was disregarded for years by the President. "... What exactly are you anticipating us to learn from it. Are we to assume that what he said is accurate and that we must learn to accept it as such in order to move on with our lives? Or, if he is spreading false information, shouldn't something be done about it?" he questioned.
