We spent two days in the hospital with mum and my sister before she got better. I was delighted when the doctor announced that she is now good to go.
"Are you serious doctor?" I asked gladly.
"Sure, the result confirmed that she is now good, all she need now is enough rest and happiness" he explained further.
I and my sister were very happy, mum wasn't excluded as she kept smiling but she kept staring at me in a wiry type.
We left the hospital immediately and happily.
"Thank you my children for being there for me. I thought am not gonna survive it but you guys proved me wrong. May God bless and protect you all from all illness as u keep helping and supporting ur mother" mum appreciated immensely.
" Amen🙏!" We curiously answered with our head bowed down.
"My son, I want to talk to you" she said as she turned to my direction.
"Okay mum, am listening" I replied.
Chomy (my sister) went to the market to get some food stuff from some money I gave her, I was left with mum alone.
"My son, you know I love you but please don't hide anything from me please. What are you doing now for survival?" She asked and I chuckled.
I wasn't expecting such question from her.
"Am... Mum.... Am, see ehh please let's be discussing about ur health for now please" I said stammering.
" When did you turn to a stammerer? Are you now into illegal business or what? Do u think am happy with you? " She fired up with tears.
The last thing I will ever do is to make my mum cry and I was seeing her tears right there.
"Am not working yet mum, my girlfriend is the one supporting me" I replied but she wasn't even satisfied with my answer.
"Ur girlfriend? Did I hear u right?" She queried.
I was looking for some ways to convince mum when my phone rang and it was Debbie calling.
That was her first time calling since I left Lagos to Enugu state because of my mum's sickness.
I took the call and put it in loudspeaker so that mum may be convinced after listening to the call with me.
"Hey babe, why haven't you called since three days now?" Debbie asked from the other end of the phone.
" Am very sorry babe, my mum was sick and I went to Enugu to take care of her" I replied.
"What's wrong with her and how is she now? " She asked with much concern.
" She has been hypertised for some years now but we kept given her some remedy since we don't have the money. It became worse and I got a call from Chomy my sister to come back. She is now better and we are at home now" I explained to her.
" How about the bills, send me ur account number let me send some money to you please" she said and I stared at mum who was attentively listening.
" Don't worry I have sorted it out dear" I replied and mum nodded satisfactorily.
Yes, mum likes it whenever we are contented with what we have and that was exactly why she nodded happily when I declined sending my account number to Debbie.
Debbie tried everything to convince me but I refuse and she gave up.
"When are you coming back to Lagos?" She asked.
"I will get back to you when am done talking with my mum please" I replied and she straightened her regard to mum before she hung the call.
"Hope u can believe what am telling you mum" I said as I turned to mum after the call.
" Yeah but are u comfortable being feed by a lady?
Don't you think you need something doing?" She asked.
" Am into it mum, I will get work soon please" I replied.
"U better do because a man his wife or girlfriend is feeding is like a dog in the house, you behaves as she wants else she will sell or kill u" she advised and smiled.
My staying with my mum was awesome and I enjoyed my sister too with her delicious meals.
I equally explained to my sister some things about my way about and she advised me in her own way which I took serious because of the love and respect I have for her.
I spent two more days with them before going back to Lagos because of Debbie's disturbance and endless calls.
