The assertion that Ghana' s Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is being falsely accused by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is no longer a rumor.
This is due to the African Academy for Open- Source Investigations' (AAOSI) incredibly thorough investigation, which revealed how Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC' s national communications officer, and some dishonest insiders linked to the main opposition party have been organizing politically fabricated tweets intended to discredit the Vice President.
The investigation looked at the reasons behind Vice President Bawumia being called a liar and using the hashtag " #Bawuliar" to create false trends on Twitter. It was conducted as part of the AAOSI' s efforts to fight misinformation and strengthen democracy in Africa.
It also showed that the NDC had used the derogatory characterization of Vice President Bawumia as a liar as a deliberate strategy to undermine his character whenever he discussed the economy or gave a significant speech.
" Throughout the research, we noticed that practically every economic comment the Vice President made was followed by a spike in tweets mentioning #Bawuliar. The goal of this investigation is to determine whether the #Bawuliar trend is natural or the result of a political campaign by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia' s detractors to discredit him.
The investigation by AAOSI revealed that Sammy Gyamfi was the mastermind behind the coordinated scheme, using the Twitter accounts @sammygyamfi2017 and @SammyGyamfi, respectively.
Once more, the analysis located a person named " @Annanperry" who defined himself as an NDC activist as one of those who frequently promoted the phony #Bawuliar tweets among several accounts connected to the opposition party.
The study also looked at the top 10 Twitter accounts with the most original #Bawuliar tweets, the top 10 accounts that retweeted the #Bawuliar tweets, the top 10 sources of the fake trend, the top 10 Twitter accounts with the most retweets, and the origin and key figures behind the staged hashtag " Bawuliar. "
" In terms of the #Bawuliar trend, we found Twitter user @sammygyamfi2017 to be the second most influential account. According to our findings, Sammy Gyamfi of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) previously used the Twitter handle @sammygyamfi2017. The username of the account at the moment is @SammyGyamfi_.
" The Wayback Machine' s archived tweets from the time the account' s username was @sammygyamfi2017 support this.
#Bawuliar has been tweeted 11 times by @SammyGyamfi_. @SammyGyamfi_ was responsible for the top three #Bawuliar tweets.
" The @SammyGyamfi response to Dr. Bawumia' s assertion that Ghanaians might use the Ghana card as a travel document in place of a passport was the most widely shared #Bawuliar tweet. The tweet from February 12, 2022, claimed that Dr. Bawumia had an allergy to the truth and that lies were embedded in his DNA. The tweet garnered 171 retweets and 727 likes.
" The results of our inquiry showed that the handles @sammygyamfi2017 and @SammyGyamfi_ both belong to the same Twitter account that is run by Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC' s director of communications. As a result, the account' s username was modified from @sammygyamfi2017 to @SammyGyamfi_. The investigations further revealed that this was supported by archived copies of tweets from the account from when its username was @sammygyamfi2017.
