Collins Adomako- Mensah, a Member of Parliament (MP) for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) representing the Ashanti Region' s Afigya Kwabre North Constituency, has warned President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo not to consider rescinding the free senior high school policy (SHS) because he and his supporters would accept it coolly.
He asserts that they will deal with the president since Free SHS has significantly improved the lives of his supporters, and as a result, they are unwilling to exchange it for anything.
He claimed that Free SHS had had an amazing and immeasurable impact based on the level of poverty in his district.
When you' re in Accra, you hear a lot of radio debates over the Free SHS program, like let' s examine it. However, if you visit a location like Afigya Kwabre, we will deal with him on the day Nana Addo announces that the policy has been revoked.
It' s astonishing since there is no way to quantify its influence on the neighborhood. Its stories contain some really touching passages. In an interview, Mr. Collins Adomako- Mensah made this statement on Angel FM Kumasi.
After being put into effect in 2017 by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo, the government' s flagship Free SHS program has drawn a lot of criticism, particularly from some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) due to its difficulties.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC), the opposition party, on many occasions has called for a review of the policy.
Other officials in the Akufo- Addo government, including the Finance Minister, Mr Ken Ofori- Atta have also called for the review of the policy as it faces numerous challenges including feeding of the students and limited boarding facilities.
