Divine stopped taking my calls nor replying my messages, I tried trancing his house but to no avail. I did everything I could but it never yield a good results, I was left with no choice but to continue with my single life.
My daughter came back from her school and everything were becoming better since she is always with me. It was one fateful Sunday, my daughter insisted that we must attend her friend's church because she invited her.
"She invited you not me, so u go alone please" I protested but she was so angry.
"We are going together please, I have been escorting u to many places do this for me please" she insisted.
My daughter is such a nasty girl, she is very smart but she never takes no as an answer when it's between me and her.
Though we share somethings in common because my mother always tells me that she is just like me.
She grew up and meet me as her only friend, she confides in me whenever she needs to talk to someone.
We drove to the church and enjoyed their service because it was top-notch in praises, the instrumentalists are doing a great job there.
"Hope you enjoyed the service?" Someone asked tapping me on the shoulder from behind.
"Yes goodmorning dear" I answered trying to recall where I have met such face before.
"He is over there" she said pointing at a distance. Oh gosh! That was the girl I met with Divine at the hospital when he had accident.
"Sorry am just remembering you please, am sorry for what that have happened and the way you might have took it" I apologized quickly.
"C'mon it's well, can we go now? " She asked trying to drag me to where Divine was standing with some guys talking but I resisted.
"Am sorry but I won't fight for what doesn't need me forever, I think you deserve him either" I replied politely.
" I don't understand please, why talking like that? " She asked.
"I have wronged him countless times and u have been his joy giver all these while, just extend my regards to him please.
I can't afford leaving this house of worship with another soared heart" I explained vividly and she shrugged.
" Who is that? " Chizzy asked referring to the girl.
"She is my friend but not that close though" I explained to Chizzy who have been trying to comprehend what was going on.
"Hey! Goodmorning dear" Chizzy greeted and extended hand for handshake.
"Hey, am Lucy from Enugu state, I came to visit my brother Divine here in Lagos. Nice meeting you" she explained to Chizzy and they both shook hands.
"I think I like her, she is an easy going lady" Chizzy concluded but that wasn't my burden at that moment.
What did she say?
Did she called Divine his brother or she is one of those village girls that always pretends that their boyfriends are their brothers?
"Sorry, u said Divine is who to you?" I asked .
"He is my elder brother if course, sorry I will be leaving now because I will be going back to Enugu state today" she said in finality trying to leave but I held her hand.
"Can I drop u at home? " I asked but she looked at the direction where Divine was standing with his friends.
"Let me ascertain from him first" she said and went directly to where he was.
Chizzy was looking for any opportunities to start asking me questions but I avoided her look and pretended to be busy with my phone.
"Yeah, we can go now please" Lucy said as she came back smiling.
" Hope you didn't mentioned my name there?" I asked her jokingly and she smiled.
" Not at all, just told him that am leaving and he have me the house keys" she explained.
"Sorry aunty, how did you meet my babe? " Chizzy asked Lucy.
Yeah, she calls me babe and I calls her angel because we never see ourselves as mother and daughter rather as friends.
"It's a long story dear but we met in the hospital" Lucy said as we dived into the car.
Chizzy is a lover of front seat but she joined Lucy at the back just to continue the discussion there.
I noticed the happiness Chizzy had being with Lucy and I couldn't help but focus on the road to their house.
They were living in a local house, painted with yellow and green like village schools, the compound was very occupied that my car couldn't get in there. We parked outside the house and spent some time with Lucy as she arranged his bags to go back to Enugu.
"Give me a call when you are set to go.
I will like to give you something to give mum please" I said to her as we were ready to leave.
" I will try" she said.
"C'mon, don't use such word "try" when we are serious please. Don't go anywhere until I see you again please" Chizzy chipped in and hugged her tightly.
"Okay, I will" Lucy corrected.
We were about leaving when Divine came and was shocked to see us.
"Excuse me.... Bye" I said as we leave the room immediately but Divine stood still looking at us.
I got to where I parked my car and turned only to see that Divine was following us.
"We need to talk please" he said but I hopped in the car with Chizzy and left.
