The NPP leadership has been the talk of the town as some members believe it is favoring some people over others.

In a recent interview on Atinka TV, former parliamentary hopeful for Kpone Katamanso, Hopeson Adorye, voiced his concerns regarding the New Patriotic Party' s (NPP) leadership and their approach to handling statements made during the campaign for the party' s presidential primaries.

Adorye accused the party' s national executives of being selective in their response to statements made by party members. He pointed out that while some Members of Parliament and regional executives publicly declared their support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and attacked other presidential hopefuls, the party' s leadership remained silent. However, the same leadership was now threatening to disqualify and suspend individuals who fought back in response.

" We' re unperturbed about your threats to disqualify people; nobody can threaten us, " Adorye defiantly stated in Twi. " The system cannot impose anyone on us. We are not afraid of anybody. "

The upcoming NPP presidential primaries, scheduled for August and November 2023, will see ten contenders vying for the party' s presidential candidacy. In August, a super delegate conference will be held to reduce the number of contenders to five, leading up to the main primaries in November to select the final presidential candidate for the 2024 elections.

The ten candidates include Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen, energy expert Kwadwo Poku, Attorney General and Minister of Justice Joe Ghartey, former Minister of Food and Agriculture Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, former General Secretary of the NPP Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, MP for Assin Central Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former MP for Offinso North Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, and former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko.

As the presidential primaries draw nearer, Adorye' s warning serves as a reminder of the importance of fair and unbiased treatment of all candidates throughout the selection process. The NPP' s leadership must address concerns about selective handling to ensure a transparent and credible nomination of the party' s presidential candidate.
