This shows that Ghanaians are wide awake and their interest in politics is growing. Everything will be base on the competence of a condidate so we can put our confidence in him when elected.
The July 2023 national poll which sampled over 6,100 voters across 82 constituencies in all the 16 regions, shows that voters would choose a president in 2024 based on the following factors:
ˇCompetence,
ˇ Better Manager of the Economy,
ˇ Can fight corruption,
ˇ A man of his own,
ˇ Integrity and
ˇ Can transform the country.
The poll found majority of voters will consider candidates ability to better manage the economy as the top reason with 23%, followed by competence with 21%, fight corruption, 17%, has the integrity 16%, a man of his own, 13% and transformational leader 10%.
On the question of competence, the poll shows that 76% of NPP sympathisers who indicated that competence is key for them intend to vote for Dr Bawumia, 15% will vote Mahama and 9% will vote someone else.
However, in the race between Kyeremanten and Mahama, 79% of NPP voters who mentioned competence will vote for Kyeremanten while 14% will vote for Mahama and 7% will vote for someone else. The poll shows the NPP is not solidly behind their potential candidates against Mahama whilst the NDC is solidly behind their candidate.
The poll also shows Mahama outperforming NPP candidates among floating voters on the issue of competence.
All voters, except NPP sympathizers, who want to elect a president who can better manage the economy prefer John Mahama over Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Alan Kyeremanten.
