Kwabena Agyepong And Mahamadu Bawumia
Kwabena Agyepong has revised the succession of occasions prompting the work of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to the Bank of Ghana (Swamp) years back.
Kwabena Agyepong, one of the presidential aspirants for NPP political party's presidential race, was responding to claims that the current vice president, Mahamadu Bawumia as a youthful broker was selected to Marsh by president John Agyekum Kufuor, said that was not the situation.
He described how, in 2001, while serving as president Kufuor's spokesperson, he met Bawumia as a PA to Bank of Ghana (BoG), Governor Paul Acquah at the time.
"It is likewise not a fact that president Agyekum Kufuor was the one that carried him into the Bank of Ghana. We (NPP government) came into office in 2001, at the time Dr. Duffuor was the legislative leader of the National Bank, the president permitted him to finish his residency.
"It was Duffuor that carried Bawumia to the bank, it was after Duffuor that Paul Acquah was brought from the IMF. Since Bawumia worked in the Research Department at the time, he treated her like a PA.
"He used to convey Acquah's books when they come for gatherings at the Palace and I sat in those gatherings… does it mean working in a bank makes you a party individual? Does the fact that he was employed during the NDC era make him a member of the NDC? He emphasized.
Similar to Bawumia, Agyepong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer candidate, elaborated, saying, "In 2006 when president wanted to appoint a deputy governor, he gave it to him."
He was talking in a meeting with Kofi television in a boundless meeting on his possibilities in the impending NPP super delegates gathering and his general dream for the country.
