Sulley Ali Muntari has been very open and honest about the challenges he faced as a child, including addressing the challenging issue of bedwetting, which resulted in him urinating while he was asleep.
The former Ghanaian international player admitted that he had a difficult time controlling his bedwetting, which might occur at any time, including while he was napping in the middle of the day. He went to visit his aunt in Kumasi when he was a young lad, sometime between the ages of 11 and 12, and he shared a heartwarming story from that time. During this stay, he was profoundly affected emotionally as a result of an accident in which he accidentally drenched the mat on which he was sleeping.
My mum was kind enough to give me a ride to Abuabo so that I could see my aunt in Kumasi. When I was around 11 or 12 years old, I suddenly found that I was constantly wetting the bed. It arrived without any prior planning at any time. We were only able to get some sleep during the daytime hours because there wasn't even a bed there. "When that happened, all I did was urinate on the mat," Muntari said during an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV.
The fact that Muntari, a young child, was unable to control his bedwetting caused significant damage to his self-esteem. When he was eventually unable to cope with the situation, his aunt sent him back to Konongo, which was a decision that left him in a state of severe devastation.
When my aunty decided to send me back to Konongo, it caused me a great deal of pain. Muntari claimed that his mother was the one who initially broke the news to him that he had been sent back at some time.
Muntari was able to attain success in football throughout his early years, despite the challenges he had as a youngster, and his problem with wetting the bed gradually improved over the course of his career.
Throughout his career, Muntari had a successful run for Ghana, which included participation in three World Cup events, one of which was the country's very first World Cup, which took place in Germany in 2006. At the club level, he achieved great success while playing for Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Portsmouth. During his career, he won the Champions League as well as several other domestic championships in Italy and England.
Sulley Ali Muntari was able to become a football icon with amazing exploits both at the club and international levels because of his incredible talent and unwavering drive, despite the difficulties he had in his younger years.
