Schools To Remain Open Despite Strike

The Ghana Education Service has directed Heads of Senior High Schools through their respective Regional and District Directors to mobilize Management teams to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.

Regional and District Directors are to ensure that Basic School Heads keep schools open and closely supervise all children who report to school pending further directives from GES

All schools affected by the teacher's strike action are therefore to remain open despite the announcement of a strike by teaching and non-teaching staff in public pre-tertiary schools nationwide.

In a press release, GES noted that it has invited the leadership of the unions to a meeting to discuss the development and the way forward and that schools should remain open.

The GES release signed by Public Relations head, Cassandra Twum Ampofi, said the leadership of the Unions has been invited for talks with GES management and that heads of basic schools and Senior High Schools have been tasked to ensure the safety of all pupils and students.GES Press Release on Teachers Strike The Ghana Education service has just made a release on the Teachers strike today 7th November,2022 School Heads are advised  to put together their management team  to ensure the safety and well-being of the Students. Parents are also advised to remain calm Directors are to ensure schools are opened and closely supervised Full statement Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has read from the media that the three (3) Teacher Unions in the Pre-Tertiary Education sector have declared withdrawal of their services effective Friday November 4, 2022. Heads of public Kindergarten and Primary Schools as well as Junior and Senior High Schools have been directed through the Regional and District Directors to mobilise their Management teams to ensure the safety and well-being of all students in schools. Meanwhile, parents are advised to remain calm and be assured that Management is closely monitoring the situation and will advise on the way forward accordingly. Regional and District Directors have further been directed to ensure that Heads keep schools opened and closely supervise all children who report to school pending further directives from Management of GES.
