AKUFO ADDO WILL HAVE TO TELL US WHY HE MADE THOSE PUBLIC COMMENTS? NPP MP

The former minister for Sanitation and Water Resources has been trending for the past few days after news broke that her house help is standing trial for theft. Hours later, Cecilia Dapaah, former MP for Bantama released a communique which led to many Ghanaians hurling more insults at her. The minister finally resigned on Saturday citing that she doesn' t want her personal issues to affect the reputation of the government. Many however want her investigated and if possible prosecuted if the allegations against her are true.

Andy Appiah Kubi, law maker for the people of Asante Akim North constituency has waded into the conversation and raised questions about some comments made by President Akufo- Addo regarding his minister. Andy Appiah Kubi was one of the NPP MPs who has criticized Akufo- Addo many times. He was the leader of the over 80 NPP MPs who had pressured Akufo- Addo to sack Ken Ofori Atta prior to Ghana securing an IMF loan.

Andy Appiah Kubi has wondered why President Akufo- Addo didn' t wait for the law to have its way before he came forward to applaud Cecilia Dapaah while receiving her resignation letter. He asserts that the president made prejudicial statements and if things turn out to go against Cecilia then Akufo- Addo will have to come back and apologize.

While speaking on TV3' s The Keypoints, on Saturday, July 29, 2023, Appiah Kubi said the president erred in trying to vindicate his minister at a time when Ghanaians are angry. He questioned what the president will say if Cecilia after investigations is deemed guilty. According to him, Cecilia could be declared innocent but at the same time things could go wrong and so insisted that it was wrong that Akufo- Addo felt the urgency to clear her indirectly of all wrongdoing.

This isn' t the first time this year that Akufo- Addo has been attacked of making prejudicial comments. It can be recalled that prior to the Assin North by elections, the president gave a scenario that James Quayson could end up in prison.
