The race to who leads the ruling New Patriotic Party is gathering momentum. So far, 10 aspiring flagbearers have been vetted and cleared to contest in the upcoming mini congress. The mini congress next month seeks to prune down the number of candidates from ten to five. The ten candidates are Mahamudu Bawumia, Francis Addai Nimoh, Joe Ghartey, Alan Kyerematen, Kojo Nsafoah, Akoto Afriyie, Kennedy Agyapong, Kwabena Agyapong, Boakye Agyarko and Konadu Apraku.
Bawumia, Alan Kyerematen and Kennedy Agyapong are expected to be the main contenders in the race to who leads the NPP in 2024. Prophet Kofi Amponsah, a popular prophet in Asonomaso Nkwanta in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region has made some startling revelations about Vice President Bawumia.
According to a viral video on social media the supposed man of God is heard saying that he will do anything possible to stop Bawumia from becoming president. He wondered what new ideas the Vice President has that wasn' t used or given to Akufo- Addo. Prophet Amponsah mentioned that he will deploy both spiritual and physical tactics to ensure that Bawumia never becomes president.
" Bawumia, the nation is not yours. He is not wiser than Akufo- Addo. I have been given power to declare. Tell Bawumia that as long as I am a prophet he will never be a president. If he had sense he would have helped Akufo- Addo. I will use any way possible to stop him. I have spoken" , Prophet Amponsah said.
Prophet Amponsah is noted last year to have said that Kennedy Agyapong is the favorite to be the next president of Ghana. He explained that with the charisma of the Assin Central MP he is the best to lead the NPP and transform the country. Prophet Amponsah has on many platforms bemoaned the state of the country. He has questioned why Kwabre East, a constituency that gives the NPP so much votes have been left to rot. Francisca Oteng is the current MP for Kwabre East. In the 2020 elections, President Akufo- Addo picked 82, 437 votes representing 77. 41% of votes cast in the constituency.
