In a developing nation facing numerous challenges and striving for progress, the recent scandal involving Cecilia Dapaah, the former sanitation minister, has captivated the nation' s attention. The allegations of stolen money from her residence have ignited debates, accusations, and divisions among the populace. Amidst this turmoil, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akim Oda constituency, has emerged as a prominent voice in defense of the embattled former minister.

During a panel discussion on UTV' s Adekye Nsroma, the Oda MP argued that it is unjust for Ghanaians to rush to judgment without concrete evidence linking Cecilia Dapaah to the alleged theft. He pointed out that the blame should be placed on the house girls who are accused of the theft and emphasized the need to discourage exploiting the issue for political gains.

" The way we are accusing her, condemning her, and sentencing her. . . as a result, she has resigned. I wouldn' t say that people should praise her because she has done well, but the condemnation should be directed to those that stole the money because now politicians are using the issue for political gains, " the MP expressed his viewpoint.

Cecilia Dapaah, who resigned from her ministerial position on July 22, maintains her innocence and has been arrested and released on bail by the Special Prosecutor following a search at her residence. The police have submitted the case docket of theft, as reported by the minister and her husband, to the Attorney- General for advice.

In addition to investigating the former minister, authorities have also questioned some of her relatives about the stolen funds from her Abelemkpe residence, which further fuels the ongoing probe by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

As the situation unfolds, the nation awaits the conclusion of the investigation, with citizens and politicians alike urged to approach the matter with fairness and circumspection, refraining from premature judgments until concrete evidence comes to light.
