Arsenal has confirmed that Gabriel Jesus will be unavailable for their final pre-season match, raising doubts about his availability for the Community Shield clash against Manchester City this weekend.

The Gunners are set to conclude their summer preparations with a fixture against Monaco for the Emirates Cup on Thursday evening, but their Brazilian striker will not be taking part due to a knee issue.

The announcement regarding Jesus' absence came after Arsenal released their starting lineup, with the club stating that he will miss the game and will be assessed further.

Throughout Arsenal's pre-season fixtures against Nurnberg, MLS All-Stars, Manchester United, and Barcelona, the 26-year-old forward has been a key figure, managing to score a goal during this period.

During the start of the 2022/23 season, Jesus played a transformative role for Arsenal, contributing three goals and three assists in just five Premier League matches. Although his productivity slightly decreased over time, it had little impact as Arsenal finished at the top of the Premier League table before the World Cup break.

Unfortunately, the former Manchester City player suffered a knee injury during his time in Qatar, leading to him missing 15 games before making a return in March. Despite this setback, he managed to score an additional six goals before the end of the campaign.

As per Arsenal's statement, Gabriel Jesus will now undergo assessment to determine the extent of his knee problem. Meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah has been selected to lead the attack in the friendly match against Monaco. The starting lineup also includes Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Martinelli, with Thomas Partey partnering with Declan Rice in midfield.

As the Community Shield approaches, Arsenal will be closely monitoring Gabriel Jesus' condition, hoping to have him available for the important clash against his former club, Manchester City.

He will now be assessed, as per Arsenal's statement, but in the meantime Eddie Nketiah has been picked to lead the line in the friendly with Monaco. There are also starts for Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Martinelli, while Thomas Partey partners Declan Rice in midfield.
