Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Juaboso constituency, has broken his silence after being engaged in an accident that came dangerously close to taking his life.
On Saturday evening, the event took place on the Nyinahin-Kumasi route in the Ashanti Region while the Member of Parliament was on his way home from a funeral that had been held in his area.
During an appearance on Adom FM's Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Akandoh related the harrowing experience and stated that he is still in a state of shock and is unable to comprehend how the incident took place.
According to him, they had to pick one of three different accident series to explain what had happened.
"I was making my way from the district to the airport in time to catch a flight to Accra. My driver swerved to the side of the road in an effort to escape the automobile in front of us that unexpectedly pulled over, and while he was doing so, there was an incoming pickup truck that he also managed to avoid colliding with. This all occurred just a short way from Nyinahin.
"Unfortunately, there was a Sprinter heading towards us, and despite making several attempts to dodge, the Sprinter was also coming in the same direction, and we both collided on the side of the road," he explained. "Despite our best efforts, the Sprinter was also coming in the same direction, and we both collided on the side of the road."
The legislator remarked that despite the numerous false claims that have been carried out regarding the incident, he is thankful to God for sparing his life as well as the lives of the other people who were with him.
"It is never the case that the driver passed another vehicle. Because that is not the case, I shall make an appeal to the people of Ghana to put an end to the rumours," he said.
In the meantime, the Member of Parliament has conveyed his gratitude to the residents of Nyinahin for the assistance they provided, as well as to the people of Ghana for their prayers, which he believes played a role in keeping them alive.
