Liverpool target Romeo Lavia has said he wants to join the club, according to reports. It is claimed the Southampton star is waiting for the Reds, who are preparing their final offer to sign him.

Lavia has played one season in the Premier League. However, his performances in a Saints shirt have seen him linked with a host of top clubs in England. As of last summer, he had joined Southampton from Manchester City for a fee that could rise to £14 million. But despite their relegation from the top flight, the south coast club are set to make a large profit

Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal have all been linked with Lavia. But it appears Liverpool are in the most promising position to get a deal done in the coming days. The Reds have already seen two offers turned down for the 19-year-old. Southampton is hoping for a total package of up to £50 million.

Lavia is a Belgium international, and Belgian football journalist Sacha Tavolieri has updated his future. He claims Liverpool are now preparing their third and 'ultimate' offer for Lavia. The initial bid will be £40 million but will include add-ons that Liverpool feel will meet Southampton's demands. Lavia's camp is now waiting for the Merseyside club to make that offer after he confirmed his desire to join them.

The report says that Liverpool are currently the only club in a position to make an offer that Southampton would accept for the young star. Lavia would become Klopp's third midfield signing this summer.

Klopp prioritized this position heading into this window. The departures of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita on free transfers have left the German short of options in the middle of the park.

Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai were hired for an initial combined fee of £95 million to bolster the resources. But Klopp has since lost two more high-profile midfielders. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have both made significant moves to the Saudi Pro League. That has again left Liverpool short of options in the middle of the park.

Lavia would not be able to replace Henderson or Fabinho. However, he would add more youthful legs to a Liverpool side that looked its age at times last season.
