According to rumours, Pep Guardiola's defensive line may soon be without two of its most recognised talents after Barcelona reached personal terms with one player and Al Nassr mobilised for another.

Man City are undoubtedly the best club team in the world right now. Indeed, their treble past season demonstrates this.

Guardiola, on the other hand, has never been one to sit still, and a squad that has beaten all before them has already experienced significant upheaval this summer.

Indeed, Ilkay Gundogan has joined Barcelona on a free transfer, while Riyad Mahrez has joined Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli for £30 million.

Kyle Walker is still in talks with Bayern Munich. However, the veteran full-back may not be the only high-profile defender to leave the Etihad Stadium.Barcelona has been interested in Joao Cancelo since the January transfer window, and according to Fabrizio Romano, they have finally agreed on personal terms with the midfielder.

On Twitter, Romano verified the news before adding that talks between Manchester City and Barcelona about the transfer fee and payment arrangement have commenced.

While Romano did not specify it, previous sources said City valued the 29-year-old at around €50 million (around £43 million).

Cancelo was a standout for City between 2020 and 22 and was chosen to multiple PFA Teams of the Season.

Cancelo was even named to the 2022 FIFPro World XI, yet Guardiola's formation adjustment to a 3-2-4-1 kept him out.

In January, the Portuguese international was loaned to Bayern Munich before joining another European powerhouse, Barcelona. Read more.

Barcelona, one of the world's most famous football clubs, has made significant adjustments to their set-piece approach. Notably, the squad has handed right and left free kicks to Raphinha and Gundogan, respectively, while penalties are handled by prolific scorer Robert Lewandowski. These tactical changes have given Barcelona's offensive play new dimensions, ensuring a bigger threat from dead-ball situations.

Raphinha, noted for his flawless technique and ability to curl the ball, has taken over the duty of right-footed free kicks with ease. His deft dribbling and precise crossing have also helped Barcelona to take use of their attacking lineup's aerial power. The presence of this explosive winger in free-kick situations has given an element of unpredictability and flare to Barcelona's set-piece plays.
