Koku Anyidoho, the founder of the Atta- Mills Institute and former deputy General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared his intention to report former President John Mahama to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). Mr. Anyidoho alleges that funds allocated for the establishment of the Atta- Mills Presidential Library were misused and diverted during Mahama' s tenure as President. *
Speaking on the Wontumi Morning Show, Mr. Anyidoho revealed his disappointment with the previous government' s handling of the project. He claimed that during meetings, they were repeatedly assured that funds were available for the library' s construction. However, as time passed, it became apparent that the promised funds were not utilized as intended.
Expressing his gratitude towards the current government, Mr. Anyidoho commended President Akufo- Addo for stepping in to salvage the project. The Ghana Tourism Authority has now contracted a contractor to work on refurbishing the Atta- Mills Presidential Library.
Blaming former President John Mahama for the library' s decay over the past seven years, Mr. Anyidoho questioned the whereabouts of the initial funds allocated to the project. He asserted that he will lodge a formal complaint with EOCO to investigate the alleged misappropriation.
Clarifying his stance, Mr. Anyidoho dismissed accusations of personal animosity towards Mr. Mahama, stating that his actions are motivated solely by accountability and transparency. He emphasized that political allegiance should not overshadow the pursuit of truth and justice.
The allegations put forth by Koku Anyidoho have added fuel to the political landscape in Ghana, raising questions about financial accountability and the responsible use of public funds during the previous administration.
EOCO is yet to comment on whether an investigation will be launched based on the formal complaint to be filed by Mr. Anyidoho.
