Manchester United has reached an agreement to sell Harry Maguire to West Ham United for a fee of £30 million, as confirmed by sources to 90min.

The English defender's position as club captain was revoked last month, with Bruno Fernandes taking over the captaincy at Old Trafford. Earlier this week, it was reported by 90min that West Ham had submitted a £30 million bid for Maguire, who was uncertain about his long-term future with Manchester United. However, this initial bid was turned down by the club.

One of the reasons for the rejection was the concern that West Ham might not be able to meet Maguire's salary expectations. Nevertheless, West Ham informed Manchester United on Wednesday that they were prepared to revise their contract offer to meet Maguire's terms. Subsequently, the two clubs have reached an agreement regarding the transfer.

While Maguire had not been entirely convinced about leaving Manchester United in this transfer window, he has shown willingness to consider the move to West Ham. Should the transfer to London Stadium materialize, Manchester United will incur a substantial loss of £50 million on the 30-year-old. This is a significant markdown from his world-record transfer from Leicester City in 2019, a deal that made him the most expensive defender in football history.

During the previous season, Maguire's role was diminished under Erik ten Hag, with Lisandro Martinez displacing him in the starting lineup, often partnering with Raphael Varane.

Meanwhile, West Ham's interest in Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay remains, as evidenced by a £30 million bid made for him this week. Manchester United is holding out for a higher fee for the Scottish international.

In other transfer developments, Ajax's Edson Alvarez is reportedly finalizing a move to West Ham, and discussions are ongoing with Southampton regarding a potential transfer of James Ward-Prowse.

Meanwhile, West Ham remain interested in Man Utd midfielder Scott McTominay, who was also the subject of a £30m bid this week. The Red Devils are continuing to hold out for a higher fee for the Scotland international.

Ajax's Edson Alvarez is close to finalising a move to east London, while talks are ongoing with Southampton over James Ward-Prowse.
