Shatta Wale, a Ghanaian dancehall singer, has boldly addressed the apparent industry bias and parallels between himself, Sarkodie, and Stonebwoy that have long surrounded his career.
In an interview with Empire 102.7FM, the musician, who has frequently found himself at the center of several controversies, said that there was favoritism and a selective spotlight on some artists in the industry.
According to the "Taking Over" singer, it is unjust for the music industry to exalt artists such as Stonebwoy and Sarkodie as the best, despite their own share of controversy.
"If you want to play favorites and pick sides, you support Stonebwoy and Sarkodie and say they are the best, they will continue to disgrace us." "How do you make a statement like Shatta Wale with a diplomatic passport?" he wondered.
Shatta Wale went on to contrast the scrutiny he suffers with examples from his peers, emphasizing the apparent double standards.
"I can also imagine Stonebwoy pulling a gun on stage." Consider Sarkodie, who had an abortion with a woman and then created a diss tune for her. What are your thoughts about it? Nobody is flawless in this world," he stated emphatically.
When you know Shatta Wale personally, you would notice that he is a very timid person. Musah, Nadia Adongo
Shatta Wale, 38, stated that no one is flawless and advised the music industry to focus on the business of music rather than personal disputes.
"We just have to stop playing around with this business because it's business," he added.
Shatta Wale's remarks follow radio personality Ola Michael's strong opposition to him being awarded a diplomatic passport, citing his "ill conduct" on social media.
The 'Dancehall King' formerly known as Bandana further stated that he will not allow comparisons to Sarkodie to damage his reputation.
"When you compare me to Sarkodie, you make him feel important." He likes to brush shoulders with me when I talk to him. He has never gone where I have been before. You make it appear as if Sarkodie is bigger than me. In his life, he will never be bigger than me," he added.
