Ghanaian Afrobeats artist Olivetheboy has recently signed a contract with Columbia Records, a subsidiary of Sony, under the management of Bu Vision Ent.

The rapidly emerging artist, who was recently designated as Apple Music's "UP Next" sensation, becomes part of the notable roster of African luminaries who have inked deals with Sony Music, such as D’Banj, Davido, Wizkid, and the legendary Angelique Kidjo.

The fresh collaboration, which was formalized last week, was orchestrated by Bu Thiam, the founder of Bu Vision, and Columbia's Executive Vice President. The management of Olivetheboy, handled by Loop Music/FulLCircL Management Ltd, also played a significant role in the agreement.

An official unveiling event is scheduled for Friday, August 24, 2023, to solidify the formal arrangements.

Olivetheboy initially captured the attention of Sony/Columbia Records through Bu Vision after the release of his globally acclaimed single "Goodsin" in May of this year.

This positive development follows OlivetheBoy's noteworthy achievement in June, where he secured the top position on the official Chartmetrics list of the Top five most streamed Ghanaian artists in the first half of 2023.

His debut track, "Goodsin," triumphed over tracks like King Promise's "Terminator" and Stonebwoy's "Into the Future" to claim the leading position.

The comprehensive report, compiled by renowned music data analytics leaders Chartmetrics and Soundcharts, examined streaming metrics from January to June 2023 for Ghanaian musicians and their tracks across five distinct streaming platforms: Spotify, Audiomack, TikTok, Boomplay, and YouTube.

In June, Mr. Bu Vision made a trip to Ghana to finalize the contract and officially close the deal after several months of negotiations.

Under this fresh partnership, Bu Vision will be responsible for supervising the crooner's A&R activities, while Sony/Columbia Records will handle all aspects of licensing, promotion, and distribution of his creative works.

Additionally, the terms of the new agreement indicate that Loop Music/FulLCircL Management Ltd is expected to maintain ownership of Olivetheboy's recordings, similar to what has been practiced thus far.

This marks the label's second collaboration with a Ghanaian artist, following the signing of Gyakie in 2021.

Undoubtedly, this fresh agreement will solidify Olivetheboy's series of accomplishments over the past few months, reaffirming his prominence since his entry into the music scene.
