Paul Adom Otchere, host of Metro TV' s Good Evening Ghana, has been trending for some weeks now. The popular TV host has come under a barrage of criticisms for his defense of government and clearing them of all corruption related issues. The board chair of the Ghana Airports Company Limited recently came out with a touchscreen analysis that cleared Cecilia Dapaah of any wrongdoing in the ongoing stolen $1 million brouhaha.
Many blasted Paul for consistently defending the Akufo- Addo led government. Captain Smart has referred to the show as lacking originality. Okudzeto Ablakwa has called the show as a nuisance while Asiedu Nketia refers to Paul as a lotto forecaster.
Sulemana Braimah, Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa, in a recent post referred to Good Evening Ghana as his best comedy show. This comment hasn' t gone down well with Paul Adom Otchere. In a sharp rebuttal on his show on Tuesday night, August 8, 2023, Paul returned the favor and lambasted Sulemana Braimah and Manasseh Azure both of the Fourth Estate.
According to Paul, both Sulemana and Manasseh Azure have nothing to do and so the best they can do to get attention is to denigrate his name. He explained that if Manasseh is a good journalist he won' t be sneaking cameras into offices and trying to record people. Paul wondered how come he could operate for over 20 years when his show is a comedy.
The host of Good evening Ghana asserted that it is rather the Fourth Estate that is a joke. He compared it to an empty shell. He called for Sulemana and Manasseh Azure to bow down their heads in shame for always trying to destroy other people. He charged them to go and learn how to do proper journalism because they are gradually destroying their reputation with crass journalism. Paul dared the Fourth Estate to come out of that empty shell and start printing newspapers if they feel they are competent instead of hiding online and smearing the reputation of others.
