The lifeless body of a barber accused of killing his girlfriend, a second-year Senior High School student, has been discovered in Nsutam, located in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern Region.
The unsettling development unfolded when a local resident stumbled upon the decomposed remains and promptly alerted the police, unaware that the deceased was the very suspect they had been seeking.
The individual recounted, "I was going to the farm when I saw the skull of a human in the bush. I rushed back home and reported it to the police."
The police, upon reaching the scene, identified the body as that of Akoumani Kwabena, also known as Emeka, whose Ghana card and a rope tied to a tree were discovered nearby.
The chief of Nsutam, alongside local elders, conducted a traditional libation ritual while awaiting the town council's instructions for the proper burial of the remains.
The backstory to this grim event revealed that on June 2, 2023, Abigail Asare, an 18-year-old student at the New Nsutam Senior High Technical School, met a tragic fate.
She had visited her boyfriend, Emeka, a Togolese national, on the morning of June 2nd, just after starting her mid-term holiday. However, Emeka left his shop without her, and soon after, a customer arriving for a haircut discovered Abigail's lifeless body on the floor, bearing fatal knife wounds.?
The horrifying sight prompted the eyewitness to urgently inform the Akyem-Nsutem police, who then contacted the Kyebi police. The Kyebi Divisional Police Command swiftly responded to the scene and transported the victim's body to Kyebi Government Hospital for preservation and a post-mortem examination.
