Chelsea transfer news: David Moyes has warned Chelsea that spending doesn't guarantee them success ahead of their clash with West Ham
It comes as the Blues have moved to invest heavily under their new ownership, with Boehly-Clearlake looking to transform the current model in place. After a dismal first season at the helm, finishing 12th in the Premier League, this summer has seen a huge churn in the squad.
The west Londoners look unlikely to stop there, with a winger and a creative player still on their radar, as well as links with full-backs following another injury to club captain Reece James. Pochettino hinted at further signings in his press conference too, but has been warned by Moyes that spending won't guarantee the club are successful.
The former Manchester United manager said ahead of his side hosting the Blues on Sunday: "They [Chelsea] spent a lot of money last year as well and it didn’t necessarily work for them. It doesn’t always mean that spending money guarantees you success.
“Chelsea are entitled to work the way they do, they’ve done their own thing for many, many years and been incredibly successful. I’m guessing they’re trying to be successful again, they’ve signed a lot of really talented players.”
With the new ownership spend now eclipsing the £800million mark in just three transfer windows, there will be a quick demand for an upward trajectory in the near future. It remains to be seen whether that will go to plan though, with so many young players making their way to the side.
