HOW TO BE MORE KINDER TO YOURSELF

By being aware of your negative and unpleasant self-talk, acknowledging that making mistakes is part of being human, and concentrating on your passions, you may be kind to yourself.

Four qualities characterise self-kindness, according to WebMD.

Talking to oneself with kindness.

Realising that everyone experiences suffering.

Establishing reasonable standards for oneself in whatever situation?.

Observing your feelings with clarity and objectivity, without stifling or exaggerating them.

WebMD advises the following tips to help you show more kindness to yourself:

Do things you love:

There are steps you can do to be nicer and kind to yourself, even if you are the world’s worst critic of yourself. Take note of the self-care you already practise and how that manifests for you.

You should be aware that you are not required to begin meditation or base your self-kindness on how others treat themselves. Whatever it is, acknowledge that doing it makes you happy and make an effort to do it more frequently as well as identify other things you really want to do.

Hug yourself:

Physical care and affection are nourishing, reassuring, and loving. You can give yourself a hug or pat on the arm to feel these feelings even if you’re by yourself. These physical actions have been shown to lower cortisol or naturally occurring.

Accept your challenging emotions:

It is challenging and perhaps uncomfortable to sit by yourself and think. To be kinder to oneself, especially when times are bad, you must practise.  This will enable you to treat yourself with more kindness, also enables you to live a healthy lifestyle.
Think of the opportunities. Reframing our perception of our lives can give us an opportunity to pause, reflect, and reset. Think about the things you’d like to change in your life going forward, and how you’d like to do this.
It can be difficult to change a critical inner-voice. But making the effort to talk to ourselves like a friend can improve our wellbeing. If you find you’re being unkind to yourself, why not try these tips to show yourself some self-compassion.
