Villarreal rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead in the 50th minute, due to goals from Juan Foyth, Alexander Sorloth, and Alex Baena.
Barcelona gained an early lead 15 minutes into the game, thanks to goals from Gavi and Frenkie de Jong.
Gavi scored from a cross by Lamine Yamal, and De Jong scored off a backheel pass from Lewandowski.

The Champions League participation for this season are largely decided, as are the pots for the August 31 draw. The field is filled with regional heavyweights, including Manchester City, the reigning Champions League champions, and Sevilla, the Europa League champions. Bayern Munich, plus new addition Harry Kane, and Paris Saint-Germain, sans Lionel Messi and Neymar, who left for Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal this summer, join them in pot 1.
