Manchester United are interested in signing Brentford left-back Rico Henry as Erik ten Hag looks to find a replacement for the injured Luke Shaw before the window closes.

After the England International sustained the injury, Eric Ten-Hag has made signing a new left-back his top priority, with Shaw out for several months and Tyrell Malacia also unavailable.

Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella and Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso have both been linked with a move to Manchester United recently, as has Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon. Former Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand has also been discussed as another potential option.

According to the Daily Mail, It now seems, however, that Manchester United could make a move for Henry instead. The Daily Mail claims the Red Devils have made inquiries into whether Brentford would be willing to sell Henry.

The player has been a consistent and impressive performer for Brentford since joining from Walsall for £1.5 million in 2016. He missed only one Premier League game last season and has started all three of Brentford’s games so far this season.

The Daily Mail also reports that Henry is in contention for his first England call-up this week after impressing Gareth Southgate when he watched Brentford play Tottenham in their season opener.

The 26-year-old makes an average of 1.3 tackles and one interception per game. He can also play as a left-midfielder and can be a threat going forward, too. With that in mind, he could prove to be a valuable addition for Manchester United, but completing a deal for Henry will not be easy, especially so close to the end of the transfer window.

The left-back is under contract with Brentford until 2026. It isn’t clear from the Daily Mail’s report how much the Bees would accept for Henry, but it’s likely he’ll be expensive.

Since signing for Brentford, Henry has made 201 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and making 11 assists in the process.
