Kennedy Agyapong, a presidential hopeful from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), along with Hopeson Adorye and three additional members of the ruling party, are slated to appear before the party's Disciplinary Committee due to allegations of inappropriate behavior.
The presidential aspirant from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong along with Hopeson Adorye and three other NPP members, is set to face the party's Disciplinary Committee due to allegations of misconduct.
This move comes in response to compelling evidence, which includes both videos and photos, suggesting potential violations of the guidelines laid out in Article 3(5)(A) of the party's constitution and possible misconduct as defined in Article 4(7). These allegations stem from their conduct during a special delegates conference where five presidential candidates were shortlisted.
One example of such behavior involves Kennedy Agyapong, who openly threatened President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia during a live radio interview. He warned of a "showdown" if they contemplated a move to the "opposition." Agyapong accused the President and Vice President of being complicit in his agent's removal from a polling station in the North Eastern region during the election.
Hopeson Adorye, on the other hand, alleged during a live radio and television interview that the Chief of Staff was present at the party headquarters during the election and was distributing money to delegates.
In response to these incidents, the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, has issued a statement confirming that Kennedy Agyapong, Hopeson Adorye, Raphael Patrick Sarfo, Charles Dokyi Yaw-Addo, and Musa Sulemana will be brought before the Party's Disciplinary Committee.
This step aligns with the provisions outlined in Article 10(7)(5) of the NPP Constitution. The purpose of summoning these individuals is to seek explanations and further details regarding the accusations and threats they made against certain figures. The evidence, which includes video and photographic materials, has circulated widely on both social media and mainstream media platforms.
