Liverpool are able to pay whatever Bayern Munich is asking to sell Ryan Gravenberch. With just a couple of days left of the transfer window, Bayern are still yet to soften their position on selling Gravenberch. But the feeling seems to be that Bayern's stance could yet change.
And speaking on his Here We Go Podcast, journalist Fabrizio Romano says that Liverpool are ready to pounce if they get the green light.
“Liverpool need a player in that position, and Gravenberch is 100 percent included in their list alongside other players,” says the transfer expert.
“For example, [Cheick] Doucoure from Crystal Palace is a player they really appreciate, but he’s probably too expensive at this moment. But Liverpool have the financial means to go to Bayern and pay what they want for Ryan Gravenberch.
“At the moment, they don’t have any green light from Bayern to start a concrete negotiation, but Liverpool are there.
Liverpool, like the player, had very good contacts with his camp, so in case the situation changes at Bayern on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, they will be prepared to bid for Gravenberch.”
Unlike other targets such as Romeo Lavia, the issue with Liverpool signing Gravenberch has nothing to do with price. In Lavia’s case, Liverpool were simply unwilling to meet what Southampton wanted for the 19-year-old. Feeling that he was overpriced, the Reds low-balled the Saints and eventually lost out to Chelsea.

With Gravenberch, that shouldn’t be the case. Having been monitoring the situation and speaking to the player all summer, Liverpool should know Bayern’s conditions should a sale be sanctioned.
There have been suggestions that the German champions won’t be asking for much more than the £20 million they paid for the 21-year-old. Meanwhile, outlets such as Italian site TuttomercatoWeb have valued Gravenberch at £43 million.
The truth is probably somewhere in between. Regardless, if Bayern do want £43 million, then Liverpool simply have to pay it.
