‘Strange’: Pundit now can’t believe what he’s hearing about Man City player who has a ‘left foot made of gold’

Pundit Danny Murphy has said that he can’t believe Manchester City would consider selling Cole Palmer to Chelsea this summer.

Earlier today, it was reported that the west London club are interested in signing the winger before Friday’s deadline and have even seen a £35m bid for him rejected by the treble winners.

This has since led to one pundit having his say on this potential transfer move.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy had this to say on the matter.
“He’s elegant, he moves nicely, he glides with the ball, he’s got vision, he can score, he’s a nice player. I’d be surprised with that.”

After making 64 appearances for City’s youth sides, scoring 42 goals and delivering 19 assists in the process, the Englishman has now made 41 senior appearances for the Citizens across all competitions, chipping in with six goals and two assists.

He said: “I find that strange. He’s a real talent, I like him, I don’t see them selling him to Chelsea.

Bearing in mind how Pep Guardiola said earlier this month that he wasn’t sure whether Palmer would be at City or a different club by the time the summer transfer window closed after the player said that he wants to play regularly football, it shouldn’t be a surprise to see someone of his talent being linked with a club like Chelsea.

Also, the fact that the west London side have signed a significant number of fairly young players for big fees this summer shows why a potential move for Palmer, who talent scout Jacek Kulig once said has a “left foot made of gold,” would continue that track record they’ve started.

In addition to that, the Manchester club have sold players to fellow Premier League clubs in the past, which wouldn’t make it unusual if they were to sell the 21-year-old to Chelsea in the coming days.
