Neymar, having departed Paris Saint-Germain to embark on a new chapter of his career in Saudi Arabia, recently granted an exclusive interview to 'Globo Esporte,' where he candidly revealed that his time at the Parc des Princes was a trying experience, much like that of his former teammate Lionel Messi.
The tenures of both Lionel Messi and Neymar at Paris Saint-Germain are now part of the past. These two footballing giants bid adieu to the Parc des Princes during the summer transfer window and have since embarked on fresh adventures, with Messi now plying his trade in the United States and Neymar finding his new home in Saudi Arabia, specifically with Al Hilal.
In his interview with 'Globo Esporte,' the 31-year-old Brazilian forward delved into his past experiences with the Parisian club and, interestingly, offered his perspective on his former Argentine colleague's time at PSG.
"I experienced mixed emotions when it comes to the year Messi had at PSG. On one hand, I was thrilled for him because he achieved his dream with the Argentina national team and secured every possible trophy. However, there was a deep sense of sadness because, like me, he also went through a tumultuous period at PSG. We both endured challenging times," Neymar acknowledged.
Moreover, Neymar went on to express his belief that Messi's departure from PSG was not in line with the footballing merit he deserved, saying, "Messi's character and work ethic are widely known to those who are familiar with him. He's a dedicated and determined individual who, when faced with defeat, harbors a deep passion for the game. It was disheartening to witness him being unjustly accused during his time at PSG. Consequently, I was overjoyed to see him lift the World Cup with Argentina. Messi unquestionably deserved to cap off his illustrious career on such a triumphant note."
In Neymar's eyes, both he and Messi encountered their fair share of trials and tribulations during their respective tenures at PSG, which ultimately shaped their experiences and left indelible marks on their footballing journeys.
