IPHONE 15 SERIES: CHANGES APPLE PLAN TO MAKE TO THE CAMERA SYSTEM.

The iPhone 15 series is expected to be launch on Tuesday 12th September, 2023. Reports suggest that Apple is planning some major upgrades to the camera system of the iPhone 15. Here are some of the possible changes we may see:

Periscope lens

One of the most rumored upgrades is the addition of a periscope lens to the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models. This would allow for higher optical zoom capabilities than the current 3x or 6x zoom on the iPhone 13 Pro models. A periscope lens uses prisms and mirrors to achieve longer focal lengths without increasing the physical length of the lens. This could enable 5x to 10x optical zoom on the iPhone 15.

  Expected iPhone 15 zoom:

 iPhone 15 Pro - 5x to 8x  optical   zoom

  iPhone 15 Pro Max - 8x to 10x

  optical zoom

48MP main camera

Reports suggest that Apple will upgrade the main Wide camera to a 48MP sensor from the current 12MP sensor. This would allow the iPhone 15 Pro to shoot photos at the full resolution of 48MP or combine pixels for 12MP shots with more detail and less noise. The higher resolution sensor would also enable 8K video recording.

Improved low-light performance

With a larger 48MP sensor and possible sensor-shift stabilization on both the Wide and Telephoto lenses, the iPhone 15 camera system is expected to show significant improvements in low-light photography and video. Apple is also likely to improve its Deep Fusion and Night mode algorithms.

LIDAR sensor for both Pro models

The LIDAR sensor, which currently only exists on the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Max, is rumored to come to the smaller iPhone 15 Pro. This would allow for better AR experiences and improved autofocus in low-light environments.

In summary, the major upgrades to the iPhone 15 camera system appear to focus on higher optical zoom, higher resolution photos and videos, and improvements to low-light performance. The addition of a periscope lens and 48MP sensor have the potential to make the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max the best camera phones yet from Apple. However, we will have to wait for official announcements from Apple to see what actual changes come to the iPhone 15 camera system next year.

I hope this overview of the possible changes to the iPhone 15 camera system was helpful!
