The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has denied Alan Kyerematen's justifications for quitting the flagbearer race.

One of the five candidates running in the November 4 presidential primary was expected to be Alan Kyerematen, who finished third in the Special Delegates' Conference.

He allegedly intimidated his supporters and claimed that the election was rigged in favor of one contender, therefore he withdrew from the race.

In response, Alan Kyerematen's assertions were refuted by the NPP's deputy general secretary, Haruna Mohammed, in an interview with Citi News.

Through the head of the elections committee, he sent a letter to the party. We've received confirmation from the elections committee that they have received the letter. Furthermore, I don't believe the content differs from that which the media disseminates.

"The party is not thrilled about his choice to quit. We feel that everyone is competing with ideas, so for him to withdraw at this time is not something the party is happy about. However, we accept his personal decision in good faith because I believe he has the fundamental right to make it.

"The party disputes that it tipped the scales in the election because its rules make it quite apparent who should be elected as delegates. The election's delegates have already been chosen.

"These delegates were chosen based on the party's charter. We will therefore find it very challenging to accept that it is slanted. The NPP's deputy general secretary said, "The party has not granted anyone authority or sponsored anyone; we have provided candidates with a fair opportunity to be chosen as one of the five.

However, the party acknowledged receiving Alan Kyerematen's letter from September 5, 2023 in a statement.

The party claimed that the Elections Committee and the Disciplinary Committee had "initiated comprehensive investigations into all reported incidents of violations and infractions" that are believed to have taken place during the election for super delegates.
