Prominent Nigerian artist MohBad, born with the name Promise Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba but better known by his stage alias Mohbad (Imole), has tragically passed away at the tender age of 27. This heartbreaking news was officially confirmed by his management team through a statement shared on social media.
The devastating announcement was conveyed by music executive Ovie Ofugara on the popular platform X (formerly Twitter) on an unfortunate Tuesday evening. He somberly declared, "Confirmed. MohBad is dead. Sad, sad day. R.I.P."
A heartfelt statement subsequently emerged on MohBad's Instagram account, which read, "It is with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of Promise Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as MohBad (Imole) today, the 12th of September, 2023. MohBad remained a shining light until the very end, and as we grieve the loss of the radiant talent he embodied, the family extends their gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers. In 2019, MohBad released his inaugural EP titled "Light" after securing a record deal with Marlian Records World. This eight-track EP featured notable collaborations with artists such as Davido, Naira Marley, and Lil Kesh. However, the artist later made headlines by announcing his departure from Marlian Records after two years. He ventured forth to establish his own record label, "Imolenization," in November 2022, leaving his legion of fans devastated by his untimely departure.
