Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Commissions Officers Of The Ghana National Fire Service Cadet Corps
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is a Ghanaian economist and former central banker who serves as the 5th Vice President of Ghana in the 4th Ghanaian Republic. He assumed office on 7 January 2017 as Vice President of Ghana.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was a Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, until his nomination as the vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2008, standing alongside presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo. He also ran as the NPP vice-presidential candidate in the 2012 general elections and was the lead witness for the petitioners in the 2012/2013 Presidential Election Petition which challenged the declaration of H.E John Mahama as winner of the election.
This afternoon in Accra, the Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia commissioned 339 Officers of Cadet Course Intake XXIII into the Officers Corps of the Ghana National Fire Service.
However, the Vice President congratulated the officers for honouring the call to serve our dear country, I also urged them to uphold the tenets of the Ghana Fire Service and serve with commitment and dedication.
Meanwhile Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said our government appreciates the important role the Ghana Fire Service plays in the management of fire in the country, hence our massive investment in resourcing the Service, which is evident by numerous interventions, including the recent supply of two hydraulic platforms capable of reaching the sixteenth floor of a building, to assist in dealing with fire and rescue in high-rise buildings.
According to him, they also want to boost the training capacity of the Fire Service, two additional Fire Academy and Training Schools, as well as a Fire College, are under construction.
