Libby German, 14, and Abby Williams, 13, disappeared in 2017 while hiking historic trails in Delphi, Indiana, before their bodies were found the next day.
According to the new allegations, they were killed by members of a Norse pagan religion and a white nationalist group called "Odinism." After years of the case slowly going cold, investigators are charging a local man, Allen, 50, with a double murder late last year.
Lawyers for the alleged killer asked the presiding judge, Allen County Circuit Judge Frances Gull, to exclude evidence collected during a search of his home before his arrest. They claim that authorities omitted important information in their search warrant application. “Members of a Norse pagan religion known as Odinism, attacked by white nationalists, ritualistically sacrificed Abigail Williams and Liberty German,” the records state.
Attorneys are now requesting a hearing with Franks, meaning they have reason to believe investigators withheld information from the judge or intentionally lied to get the search warrant approved.
Their filing, which runs over 130 pages, claims that a report by the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit found the "individual(s) responsible for the homicides were involved in Nordic beliefs." It adds: "Due to either incompetence or a concerted intentionality, those in charge of the investigation refused to arrest or even properly investigate these obvious suspects."
The report also names a 12-page 'Odin Report' made by a trooper with Indiana State Police, bur later ignored. It also claims someone posted social media images imitating runes found at the crime scene in the weeks after the killings.
“The Defense believes that the Court will be shocked at the number of clues or 'easter eggs', both before and after the murders, that he openly posted on his Facebook page that pointed the finger to his involvement in the murders,” the filings state.
Undermining the validity of the search warrant, the report also claims the FBI was convinced that “individual(s) responsible for the homicides were involved in Nordic beliefs.” The document also accuses four other men of being involved with the murders, with one having allegedly confessed to murdering the girls to his sister.
The lawyers say 'runes' were found around the girls' bodies made out of sticks. They also claim that Abby has sticks in her hair, "almost like horns or antlers." "Evidence confirms that at the crime scene, these Odinite assassins left clear signatures and symbols in the form of runes," he said.
