Ama Governor a female layer-in-waiting admit shes sleeps with women.
Elorm Ama Ababio, widely recognized by her social media moniker, Ama Governor, has made a resolute affirmation of her non-conforming sexual identity, proudly embracing her status as a Ghanaian social media influencer and aspiring lawyer. On September 23, 2023, during an interview on Joy News amidst the #OccupyJulorbihouse demonstration in Accra, she articulated that her sexual orientation should bear no influence on her eligibility to practice law.
Ama Governor, who had previously encountered a roadblock on her journey to the bar due to a petition lodged against her, revealed that she has emerged victorious in the ensuing legal battle and is poised to be officially called to the bar in October 2023. She elaborated that the allegations contained within the petition, which initially led to her rejection, were ultimately found to lack substantial merit.
In response to the delay in her call to the bar, she expounded, "...because a concerned citizen petitioned that I was not fit to be called to the bar, they gave two fallacious grounds and one insufficient ground, which all got thrown out, and basically, I won in conclusion. "First of all, like as I said, the person stated fallacious grounds, they were lies, like outright fabrications."
She continued, "And the last one is the fact of my sexuality that I sleep with women. I said that is not a lie; I do sleep with women, that is a fact. But it is not grounds for me to not be called to the bar, and that is it. "My sexuality, I am queer, I am pansexual; yes, I sleep with women, but it is not a ground upon which you can say I am not fit to be called unto the bar, and that was our defense, and we won."
In a recent report from the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) representative on the General Legal Council, it was confirmed that Ama Governor has been granted the opportunity to conclude her application procedures for the forthcoming October/November 2023 bar sessions. Furthermore, the report stipulated that her conduct would be subject to scrutiny in the interim leading up to her formal application for bar admission.
The report also disclosed that she would be required to pledge an undertaking to maintain good behavior throughout her tenure as a licensed lawyer in Ghana. This development marks a significant triumph for Ama Governor as she continues to assert her rights and identity within the legal profession and the broader social landscape.
