OCCUPYJULORBIHOUSE: The Government Have Failed Ghanaians Big Time
The demonstration took place today in Accra by Occupy Julorbi House and had a lot of celebrities join the protest to state their displeasure about what is going on in the country. Some of the celebrities who took part in the demonstration includes Kwaw Kese, M.anifest, Kofi Mole, Kelvyn Boy, EL, Efia Odo, John Dumelo and Bridget Octoo. They were the ones spotted and captured in various photographs. Protesters were seen carrying a lot of placards with notices on them. The protesters displayed the write ups on the placards for the public to know the reasons behind this demonstration as they gathered and walked on the street of 37 towards the Jubilee House that's the seat of government.
However, write ups were made on the placards to tell the government that things are not going on well at all in the country and it's time for the government to sit up and find better solutions to solving the problems. One of the placard that was carried by Efia Odo stated clearly that as we speak Ghana is not free forever and the others too had write ups on them like our leaders aren't patriotic, a democracy without accountability cannot survive, we deserve better than this!, let's write up a constitution that empowers everyone and then Nkrumah never dies.
Meanwhile, most people in the country believe that it is the failure of the government that has brought up this kind of demonstration because they don't listen to the citizens or even the opposition parties. They have failed to address the problems and hardship in the country because it is just unbearable but we have been able to cope with it for a long time but not anymore. We need them to fix all the bad roads and the economy as well.
Frustrated by what is happening in Accra today. Besides the fact that we are tired now more than ever in a country with so much resources, democracy is clearly out of the window too. Proud people are taking steps to make a change and we support the fight . We are stronger together. Free the youth!
The arrogance is too much, we need change”. John Dumelo on why he joined the protest today.
When the abuse of power is loudest, citizens must speak up even more. Oliver Barker Vormawor said this during the protest. They offered us $1m and government positions to stop this activism. We have evidence of the conversation recorded. Barkervogues alleges Finance Minister and others sought to influence them to back down
Protesters have begun the demonstration in earnest.
According to the convenors, they intend to march from the starting point of 37 Station to the Jubilee House to picket there.
Street vendors near the 37 Trotro station express displeasure over the seizure of products meant for sale by police officers.
It’s sad to see what’s happening to us brothers and sisters in Ghana. freedom shouldn’t be fought for, it must be free for all. All we’re asking for is good governance and economic freedom.
