Bolivian prosecutors revealed they are investigating the gang rape of a 12-year-old girl by 11 men. Three of the suspects were arrested, and police said they were searching for the remaining eight.
The men allegedly "intercepted" the girl at a cultural event she was attending with her family and forced her to drink alcohol before raping her in a "remote location". The horrific attack occurred early Monday morning in the town of Oruro, located between the capitals of La Paz, and Sucre.
It is located about 3,700 meters (12,000 feet) above sea level and is the fifth-largest city in Bolivia by population. The Bolivian Prosecutor's Office said in a statement:
"Oruro Prosecutor, Aldo Morales Alconini, announced today that the Prosecutor's Office is investigating a serious rape of a minor 12-year-old who was allegedly assaulted by 11 people. everyone. everyone. “So far, Víctor Q. The Procuracy will also request pre-trial detention of the suspects while police continue to search for the remaining individuals. “We will continue to work with the police to find the other responsible people and bring them to justice. Forensic examination results showed that the girl had clear signs of physical violence and scratches due to friction on her spine.
“We are analyzing what information and support we will need from the Institute of Forensic Investigation and other agencies, with the aim of clarifying this case so that it does not go unpunished. We want to ensure that those responsible are sentenced to 30 years in prison.”
Ronald Vargas, the prosecutor in the case, revealed that the gang rape happened on Monday in Oruro at around 1 a.m. after the 12-year-old girl went to attend a cultural event with her family.
