The management of TV3 has cautioned the general public through a release to be weary of some fraudulent links trending on social media requesting members of the public to deposit some monies to support the giant TV station. These links are hovering all over WhatsApp and Facebook.
The public is hereby cautioned not share those links which are intended to defraud unsuspecting victims.
The television network is by this disclaiming itself from any blame and that any person who sends money to those cyber criminals or deals with them does so at his own peril.
There has been another link going round purporting to gift 10GB worth of data to persons who shared the spoofed link. These online phishers claim the link is emanating from Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng who recently resigned from the New Patriotic Party to contest as an independent presidential candidate. Though he hasn't made any statement on the said link going round, some believe from experience that the link is fraudulent.
“What is phishing? Phishing, by definition, is a type of scam that tricks people into giving away sensitive information, such as usernames, passwords, bank account information, credit card numbers, network credentials, and many more. The goal is often to steal money or gain confidential information. This is why one of the best things to do to prevent a phishing attack is to build a secure network with zero trust.”
