The shirt worn by Kylian Mbappé in the Newcastle vs. Paris Saint-Germain match will not go to Sean Longstaff, as teammate Kieran Trippier beat the top scorer.
Longstaff scored on a famous night for the Magpies as the French champions beat PSG 4-1 at St James' Park. Miguel Almiron, Dan Burn, and Fabian Schar also scored, with Lucas Hernandez scoring to console the visitors.
After the match, midfielder Longstaff revealed that he asked for Neymar's shirt and still had hope. However, post-match footage showed Trippier had claimed valuable possession, despite earlier suggestions he would do so. “I stopped him [Mbappe] on a goal kick, so I tried to give it to my brother,” Longstaff told TNT Sports after the win.
“So I hope I still understand.” However, after the match, Trippier's son was spotted wearing a PSG shirt. The shirt bears Mappe's name and number, suggesting the England international has secured a swap for the Mappe-obsessed youngster despite his previous comments.
“I was joking a bit with my son on Monday, and he said he wanted to go out with Mbappé instead of me,” Trippier said before the match. “I'm really not happy about that! “He's obsessed with him; he always watches clips of him on YouTube,” the right-back continued.

“I told him: ‘If you go with Kyabje, don't look at me in the tunnel!’ Everyone wants their jersey; that's normal, but I didn't think about it at all. I want 3 points!" Victory over PSG means Newcastle top the Champions League group after two games.
PSG remain second after beating Borussia Dortmund in Paris in their first match; AC Milan are third after two goalless draws; and Dortmund top the group. Longstaff added: “I think we knew it was going to be a special atmosphere, but for me and Burny [Dan Burn] to score on a night like tonight, it was surreal. “I'm really speechless.
"I think, to be honest, three years ago, some of us thought maybe we were out of the gate and it wasn't a great place to be. I'm very proud to be from Newcastle, and I'm very excited.”
