The Nigerian talismanic striker Victor Osimhen has become the preferred striker for many clubs across Europe. It was widely speculated that he would sign for Manchester United, but he chose to remain in Naples.
Liverpool has joined the race to sign Victor Osimhen. Europe's biggest clubs were put on alert last month following Osimhen's public scandal with Napoli, when the Serie A side's social media team appeared to mock the striker for missing a penalty kick in the match against Bologna.
According to The Sun, Liverpool are among around 20 clubs to express an interest in the striker, who guided Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years last season. Jurgen Klopp is said to have sent one of his scouts to watch Osimhen play internationally.
However, this trip will not achieve much. The 24-year-old played 60 minutes in Nigeria's friendly against Saudi Arabia in Portugal before a hamstring injury forced him out of action, and he was ruled out of the next match against Mozambique.
Liverpool have joined Arsenal and Chelsea on the list of Premier League clubs said to have shown a serious interest in Osimhen. Meanwhile, for months, the striker has been considered one of United's top transfer targets alongside Harry Kane.
The club ultimately failed to sign either player, instead spending £72 million on Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta. It is unclear whether United continues to be interested in Osimhen.
According to Mail Online, Napoli president Aurelio Di Laurentiis has rejected at least two serious offers for Osimhen this summer. Furthermore, Di Laurentiis even offered a high price of 150 million pounds for this striker.
However, the Nigerian star's contract at Napoli expires in 2025 and the Serie A champions could be forced to sell the asset next summer or risk losing him for nothing next year.
Victor Osimhen would like to find a suitable club that could help him to be better and Liverpool is that club.
