Hon. Kwaku Agyei Mensah is a former MP for Techiman South Constituency who is currently the Bono East Regional Director of Research and Elections for the opposition NDC has said they accept the Electoral Commission's figures announced for the just ended Limited Voter Registration and Voter Transfer Exercises.


But he says, "the National Democratic Congress knowing very well that the current Electoral Commission Officials have a motive to rig the upcoming general elections in favor of the ruling NPP will continue to keenly monitor their activities till after the 2024 polls and declarations to ensure there are no manipulations".


Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission on Tuesday through Mr. Samuel Tettey the Deputy Chair in Charge of Operations announced that a total of 910,996 new voters were registered in the just-ended voter registration exercise, with majority of applicants (61.9 per cent) using the guarantor system.


According to the Electoral Commission the Ashanti Region recorded the highest number of registered voters with 148, 294, followed by Greater Accra Region with 124, 166 voters while the Upper West Region recorded the lowest number with 20, 656 voters.


Speaking to ASTA FM's Nana Kwadwo Adu in Techiman on 103.9 Fm / Winners 98.5 Fm in the Bono East Region, Hon. Agyei Mensah said the National Democratic Congress in Bono East Region recorded a total of 39,804 new voters; same as the figure Electoral Commission announced but had their eyes wide opened going forward.


Hon. Agyei Mensah continued that, “Elections is a process and not an event, if someone plans to rig a poll, it involves lots of things therefore the National Democratic Congress will not sleep but continue to monitor the activities of the Electoral Commission before, during and after the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
