MP for Bolgatanga Central and member of the Finance Committee of Parliament, Isaac Adongo, criticized the Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, for his remarks on the challenges faced by the National Investment Bank (NIB). Annoh-Dompreh had challenged the Minority to provide evidence if they believed there were ulterior motives behind the proposed merger of the bank. He urged the Minority to stop politicizing the issue and instead support the government in recapitalizing the bank.

In response, Isaac Adongo, a member of Parliament's Finance Committee, defended the Minority's position on NIB. He pointed out that they had provided concrete solutions for NIB, while Annoh-Dompreh failed to offer any solutions himself. Adongo argued that Annoh-Dompreh's comments only served to politicize the issue further. He highlighted the fact that NIB had failed to produce audited financial reports required by law since 2017, which was a significant concern for anyone with even basic financial knowledge. Adongo suggested that if he were the Managing Director of NIB, he would have taken immediate action.

Adongo also raised concerns about NIB outsourcing its treasury work to a brokerage firm, with the firm receiving 60% of the profit and NIB receiving only 40%. He emphasized that NIB already had a fully functioning treasury department headed by a competent manager. He argued that this was not a simple matter but a complex financial issue that required expertise, and it was inappropriate for individuals without the necessary understanding to discuss such technical matters.Adongo's remarks were made during an interview on Accra-based Citi FM, where he expressed his disappointment with Annoh-Dompreh's lack of understanding of the gravity of the situation. He stressed the need for informed discussions on matters of this nature and cautioned against allowing individuals who simply speak eloquently without having the required expertise to influence the discourse.

In conclusion, Adongo defended the Minority's stance on NIB, highlighting their efforts to propose concrete solutions. He criticized Annoh-Dompreh for politicizing the issue and lacking a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by NIB. Adongo emphasized the need for informed discussions and cautioned against allowing individuals without the necessary expertise to influence technical matters.
